the little festival is curated by alexander kupsch who came up with the idea after record of tides a/v live set in may. originally drafted for two days and more performing artists, the festival was cut to single day because of schedule difficulties.

shunsuke oshio and record of tides have already been performing at eunoia in the past, thomas machoczek is well known for performing (and curating) the electric café ruhr festivals and creating sound-based art for public views.

makroscope in mülheim an der ruhr launched it´s online-based community radio curated by katharina geling.
the program features 'zany hour', sixty minutes of songs and tracks from zany music. here sven piayda himself picks songs and tracks from the zany music label catalogue which is growing since 1999. the episodes focus on artists like AESTATE, architects of utter destruction, the flamma piayda complex, penrose delta, record of tides, primal scapes as well as on collaborations and guest artist features. piayda has announced to produce a season of six episodes, expamnding from playlists to hosted shows. after finisheng the pilot season the epidodes are supposed to stay available via zany hour microsite and archive.org. recently, there are no plans to produce a second season.

even though there are currently no future release dates scheduled for record of tides, piayda reported having completed an album featuring IG-75 and michael schreiber (a.k.a. primal scapes). schreiber is also contributing to the artwork, while the studio is currently designing the expanded media artwork, promising a design that is 'apart from what you would normally do.' the album is expected to be released in 2026 in multiple formats on a european label, rather than on zany music.

after finishing the summer album, piayda has teamed up once again with kill scrxxn for a more abstract ambient album. he has also begun working on the artwork, which incorporates elements from rembrandt van rijn, edwin george lutz and chris huff.

piayda is also hosting and producing the 'zany hour' program for radio makro, which is expected to feature michael schreiber in upcoming episodes.

on july 10 zany music released record of tides´ recent album ‘on a spectrum’. originally drafted as a loose collection of tracks produced for the ‘may 2025 live dates’, the compiled album appears to be piayda´s most ambitioned electronica album for mixing electronica with post hip-hop and rock with symphonic sounds.

now zany music expands the album with more tracks illustrating the enterprise: ‘spectrum: outtakes’ features non-album productions, re-masters, alternative versions and unused tracks produced for the ‘may 2025 live dates’ next to productions finished long before and afterwards.

‘spectrum: outtakes’ appears as long ep completing the ‘on a spectrum’ album and is available digitally only via bandcamp on october 3, 2025. the release date is well chosen as october 3 will be bandcamp friday ensuring that all sales profits will go to the artist on this particular date.

it is our massive pleasure to announce the release of record of tides´ new album ‘on a spectrum’ via zany music on july 11, 2025. the album was produced in winter and spring 2025 but also takes up material from the 2021 ‘purchases’ album and the 2004 debut album ‘timber’, it also features productions with long-term friend and collaborator michael schreiber from 2019 and 2022. ‘on a spectrum’ is the ninth album of the ‘purchases’ series, the album is supposed to be the legit follow-up to 'hyperalterations‘ (2025) while using sample-based post-hiphop, post genre and idm production.

the tracks have surprisingly formed an outstanding album which features outstanding artwork: the original cover features the typical ‘rcrdftds’ font on a green-screen-like background. inspired by the two altering covers of the physical version ofthe ‘superflat’ album by AESTATE, the studio developed an idea for an animated cover. the additional cover comes as animated gif and runs through the range of the colour spectrum.

the album was once again beautifully mastered by michael schreiber who also recorded and delivered material recorded with primal scapes and all notes off.

HYRN a.k.a. björn walde has contributed synth for a complex track that was originally started as an architects of utter destruction project, based upon production sessions for the ‘hyperalterations’ album. the philharmonia symphony orchestra has delivered recordings ending up in one of the most ambitioned production to date. the tracks feature the full range of record of tides music and merges styles of idm, post hip-hop, experimental, rock and symphonic music.

the new songs feature architects of utter destruction formed with chris huff (AESTATE, penrose delta, primal scapes) on bass and jan van aachen (primal scapes) on drums. michael schreiber (primal scapes, all-notes-off) contributes additional synth and programming for the song ‘riposte’. schreiber has become and on/off-member since producing the band´s cover version of the erasure classic ‘always’ and has been involved in the band´s future productions as well. additional drums by scott rockenfield and josh freese have also been added.

the band´s sound has become even more variable by merging different genres into the context of rock music. the band is also working on material for a fourth album, programming has been done, lyrics are believed to be completed. the next album is supposed to have influences by genres which have not been noticeable before.

the rumors are true: our official program kicks off on october 20th! every evening from 7 pm, you’ll hear one or two hosted shows, with repeats airing the following day from 10 am. on saturdays, we’ll replay all shows from the past week starting at 10 am.

wie alle musiker habe ich diverse konstellationen durch und bin am ende oder eigentlich auch schon von anfang an dabei geblieben, meinen eigenen back-katalog gut zu verwalten. und der liegt da jetzt in der form von zany music vor. und das mache ich seit 1999. das heißt, das sind schlanke 25 jahre, die ich das ganze jetzt schon so betreibe, wo ich meine eigene musik, musik, die ich mit freunden mache, zum teil auch musik, die freunde auch alleine machen in einem kleinen teil, zur verfügung stelle. und aus dem fundus dessen, was sich über 25 jahre angesammelt hat und was auch weiterhin wächst, würde ich ganz gerne was spielen in der sendung. okay, dann fangen wir an vielleicht mit dem smash-hit des letzten albums. und zwar ist das record of tides und 'summer dusk'. und das ist ein track, der eigentlich - vielleicht erzähle ich kurz was dazu - der wie viele tracks von record of tides eigentlich komplett auf samples basiert. da ist ein bisschen midi drin, aber auch sehr viel microsampling, was irgendwie zusammengebastelt ist. und es lohnt sich durchaus, ein bisschen näher ans radio zu rücken und mal auf die ganz vielen kleinen details zu hören, die da eingebacken sind.

like all musicians, i've gone through various constellations, but in the end-or actually right from the beginning-i've stuck with managing my own back catalog properly. and now it exists in the form of zany music. i've been doing this since 1999. that means it's been a solid 25 years that i've been running things this way: releasing my own music, music i make with friends, and occasionally music that friends have made on their own. all of it is made available through this platform. and from the collection of what has accumulated over 25 years-and continues to grow-i'd love to play something on the show. okay, let's maybe start with the smash hit from the latest album. it's record of tides and the track is 'summer dusk'. and this is a track that-maybe i'll say a few words about it- like many tracks from record of tides, is almost entirely sample-based. there's a bit of midi in there, but also a lot of micro-sampling, all pieced together. it's definitely worth moving a little closer to the radio and listening for all the tiny details baked into the track.

the tracks have surprisingly formed an outstanding album which features outstanding artwork: the original cover features the typical ‘rcrdftds’ font on a green-screen-like background. inspired by the two altering covers of the physical version ofthe ‘superflat’ album by AESTATE, the studio developed an idea for an animated cover. the additional cover comes as animated gif and runs through the range of the colour spectrum.

the album was once again beautifully mastered by michael schreiber who also recorded and delivered material recorded with primal scapes and all notes off.

zany music has announced to bring back AESTATE ‘greatest hits’ as 10th anniversary reissue on bandcamp in multiple digital high quality formats. the compilation album was originally commissioned for the 2015 ‘hungertuch award’, which the group had received.
huff and piayda have arranged bonus material to come with the original tracks of the re-release. it will feature AESTATE´s final live performance at artemis in recklinghausen in 2014 and a ‘6548 prov aiida’ mash-up which sounded at ‘the sound of the multitude’ in mülheim an der ruhr at june 10, 2023 in context of urbane künste ruhr. like the 2021 album reissues ‘greatest hits’ will come up with a re-edited cover.

the compilation album ‘greatest hits’ (10th anniversary reissue) will be out on zany music on november 28, 2025 and distributed via bandcamp digitally only.

on august 13 sven piayda already reported in the journal to have incidentally started production for a new record of tides album which may be released apart from zany music. he also reported to have ‘[…] started a collaboration for a track [he has] been thinking about for years’. in fact he has teamed up with IG-75 a.k.a. mario meyendriesch who also releases as Ka:Jel. meyendriesch is well-known for beautiful eurorack productions and remarkable performances at the electric café festivals. you can find more on his projects over at ka-jel.com and linktr.ee/ig75.

while the album is reportedly inspired by mouse on mars´ ‘parastophics’ album, the collaboration takes chance to pay tribute by bringing back sounds and vibes from turner´s ‘disappearing brother’ album. the idea for creating this track has been tossed around for about 18 months now and was finally put into action.

michael schreiber has mastered the album once again and has contributed visual material as used within the artwork. up to now, there is no release date, label or cover to be shared.



you may also like to read piayda´s blog post teasing and exploring the origin oft he production: our days in ooskapelle have been over for a while but there is an echo somehow. […] my way to relaxing routines in afternoons and evening became reading the art magazine […] and discovering mouse on mars’ ‘parastophics’ album. all of this connected, the beach feeling, the weird deconstruction and arty approach. my inner soundtrack became wild positive, like you stuff at the sea, everything is down-and-heel but you do not care as there is a certain beauty in it.

back home I had some ideas in my head for rhythms, modulated sounds and even orchestral arrangements. I did not wanted to start an album, I thought it would be something for autumn. nevertheless, for the first time in a decade I have a label waiting for some new stuff and they keep me updated to make sure I will remember them when I have something new. I collected and created packs of samples just by accident, I stared two new tracks adding some more techno groove to the post hip-hop universe as settled in the IDM multiverse. it was new and interesting but did not convince me at first. I tried the same approach again and got a banger. I even started a collaboration for a track I have been thinking about for years! after five days I had 12 tracks in need to be fine tuned. when I finished ‘on a spectrum’ it felt like an ambitioned ‘best of’ thing, something so fine and complex that it would be impossible to do a follow-up. well, but here it is, wild, worn and beautiful.




we are even happy to share this little making of. the album was produced more or less within a week (with fine tuning and rendering within a second week). the snapshot above shows the simple set up of sample based production with leo (nicknamed ‘wutz’) – a friendly neighbour´s tomcat – taking care of keeping it relaxed.

the 'intercelestial' album draws its primary inspiration from a summer trip to the dutch north sea, where piayda took some time to enjoy albums of (mostly) german electronica artists. back home he started working on new tracks which all ended up in the album. he was supported by long-time friend, musician and producer michael schreiber (primal scapes), who once again mastered the album and contributed visual material featured in the artwork.

sven piayda studio ends the summer break for a special event: on august 16, resident artists of the styrum castle in mülheim an der ruhr open their studios from 2 pm to 7 pm while hosting and presenting a guest artist. following the invitation by ralf raßloff, sven piayda will join raßloff in his studio and present selected works alongside the resident artist.
raßloff is receiving the ruhrpreis für kunst und wissenschaft in 2025, piayda was awarded in 2016 receiving the promotion prize.

participating resident artists of the styrum castle are vera herzogenrath, jan kromarek, rainer komers, sabrina seppi, and ralf raßloff. each resident will present a guest artist in their studio. selected residential scholarship holders will also opern their studios.

sven piayda has already reported in his blog that he is taking up work on a moon based artwork. above you see piayda in front of and inside the collection of the antwerp foto museum, the right bottom image shows a dummy of the moon piece. the studio will return to anwerp for further research and will hopefully finish the piece in 2025.


in august 2020 the studio started working on the most ambitioned video piece so far working-titled ‘little dancer of fourteen years (posing/refusing)’. the video takes up the idea of a non-looping but endlessly running video piece by combining sequences to an infinite motion. the studio has already created works based upon this principle, see ‘antenna’ (2015) and ‘heads’ (2018). ‘little dancer of fourteen years (posing/refusing)’ was already announced for 2021 but is supposed to finished for 2026.




we are happy to finally present the record of tides live at eunoia 2025-05-31 recording via bandcamp. the recording documents the room ambience of this great a/v performance, it was deliverd by eunoia director alex kupsch and was mastered by michael schreiber. the cover features artwork by sven piayda to make sure that it fits into the 'live bootleg' series as well as into the 'purchases' series and is based upon photographs taken by alexander kupsch.

the tracks have surprisingly formed an outstanding album which features outstanding artwork: the original cover features the typical ‘rcrdftds’ font on a green-screen-like background. inspired by the two altering covers of the physical version ofthe ‘superflat’ album by AESTATE, the studio developed an idea for an animated cover. the additional cover comes as animated gif and runs through the range of the colour spectrum.

the album was once again beautifully mastered by michael schreiber who also recorded and delivered material recorded with primal scapes and all notes off.

in order to have tracks which expand the stylistic range and work properly in a live context for the may 2025 live dates, piayda started working on single tracks which ended up on the album. these productions brought up collaborations with primal scapes and a retake on michael schreibers´s former project all notes off. HYRN a.k.a. björn walde has contributed synth for a complex track that was originally started as an architects of utter destruction project, based upon production sessions for the ‘hyperalterations’ album. the philharmonia symphony orchestra has delivered recordings ending up in one of the most ambitioned production to date. the tracks feature the full range of record of tides music and merges styles of idm, post hip-hop, experimental, rock and symphonic music.




we are extremely pleased to announce the release of ‘consent’, the third album of architects of utter destruction on february 28, 2025. zany music already put out the singles ‘ventriloquist’ and ‘fools’ as single edits and released the promotional ‘ventriloquist’ video via youtube. the album is available in different digital formats and features eight songs among album versions of the singles. it was written mainly back in summer 2023 and spring 2024 and was recorded in summer 2024.

the new songs feature architects of utter destruction formed with chris huff (AESTATE, penrose delta, primal scapes) on bass and jan van aachen (primal scapes) on drums. michael schreiber (primal scapes, all-notes-off) contributes additional synth and programming for the song ‘riposte’. schreiber has become and on/off-member since producing the band´s cover version of the erasure classic ‘always’ and has been involved in the band´s future productions as well. additional drums by scott rockenfield and josh freese have also been added.

the band´s sound has become even more variable by merging different genres into the context of rock music. the band is also working on material for a fourth album, programming has been done, lyrics are believed to be completed. the next album is supposed to have influences by genres which have not been noticeable before.

sven piayda a.k.a. record of tides looks back on the may 2025 live dates. in retrospective we are very happy with the success of the performances, on saturday, may 31, 2025, sven piayda performed the final a/v live gig of the record of tides may 2025 live dates at eunoia in mülheim an der ruhr. before piayda did a glitch hop hdj set with visuals on may 16 at makroscope in mülheim and the opening live set of endlos elektrosounds at 35blumen on may 23 in krefeld. all shows have been well attended and featured great performances.

recently we are editing and processing all of the material produced during the live performances and delivered by fans and friends. we can expect some live material to come up.
recently no future live dates are conformed. also there are nor on-going productions for an upcoming album.




before we hope to announce a proper live recording from the may 2025 dates, we can already come up with the first snippet:
record of tides live at 35blumen for endlos elektrosounds 2025-05-23 documents the last ten minutes of the performed set (as no further useful material is available). the material has been recorded and delivered by guido knabben, edited by sven piayda and mastered by michael schreiber. the artwork was done by sven piayda studio using a photograph taken and delivered by chris terhart. you can download or listen to the live bootleg by clicking here.

a small version on 'printed scallop' (2018) is supposed to be shown at 'the rest is future' for private view in krefeld on july 3 and will be part of a private collection in italy.

the album contains features by great artists from different backgrounds: electronic producer HYRN is well known from electric café ruhr performances and will add his unique sound to the ‘purchases’ universe. HYRN a.k.a. björn walde is featured on the track ‘post everyone’ delivering synth and additional production. the same track also features primal scapes and architects of utter destruction drummer jan van aachen. primal scapes and architects of utter destruction bass player chris huff is also featured on the track contributing a single note. blues harpist martin slemeyer and sven piayda have shared the stage together for numerous live performances at jams and have been in touch for common projects for years now. slemeyer plays blues harp on the track ‘no means no’ and proofs that the harp also belongs to post hip-hop.

the album was once again beautifully mastered by michael schreiber who also recorded and delivered material recorded with huff and van aachen.

the album cover has been created by chris huff and sven piayda mashing up elements from covers of the ‘purchases’ series as well as a.i.-generated elements, cgi, adapted material and photography in order to visualize the versatile production process. piayda has also been responsible for directing the project.

back in february the studio announced to working on works in a new discipline and show concepts to be pitched to museums. as piayda will not contribute to the upcoming show of kunstmuseum mülheim and will not proceed on placing a pitch after negotiations, the new concepts will not end in a museum show. nevertheless, galerie an der ruhr will show ‘eternal silence’, which was part of the new refused concept and is the first multiple piece of piayda´s portfolio. gallery director ivo franz has called for dismissed works (especially by the kunstmuseum mülheim) for the ‘salon des refusés’ group show to open june 15, 2025.

‘eternal silence’ had been installed at the gallery excluding of the public to document the piece in an exhibition space for the portfolio and press kit. piayda participated in the ‘sammlung der ruhrpreisträger*innen’ group show in winter 2024/2025 and did a successful solo show ‘triangle readings` in may 2024.

‘eternal silence’ is a wooden box in room corner, long side matching long wall, holding an endless tape cartridge placed in same corner, long side with naked tape facing long side of box. the size and proportions of the wooden box, as well as the position of the cassette, are reminiscent of a cassette radio. the audio cassette contains a blank endless magnetic tape. even if a technical device were available to play the recording, the result would be endless silence.

the idea to expand the range of disciplines had been tossed around for months now, sven piayda must have mentioned it already back in the day in the journal and fb site, now the studio presents works in a new discipline. piayda has started to exhibit photographs in 2001, seriously started doing video pieces in 2009 and added sound works in 2013 (apart from his music catalogue which is tracing back to 1997). after longer consideration and working on the pieces, the studio is now also offering multiples.



on saturday, may 31, 2025, sven piayda performed the final live gig of the record of tides may 2025 live dates at eunoia in mülheim an der ruhr. in contrast to the previous glitch hop hdj set and the endlos electrosounds performance piayda performed a live set based upon tracks and sounds of recent and upcoming releases and presented exclusive visuals to the show. the eunoia theatre presented a perfect room and sound system for the show.
alex kupsch of eunoia curated and managed the gig, he also delivered an audio recording of the performance, so we can hope for a live bootleg to come up.
piayda announced to look back on successful, stressful and well-attended live dates and mentioned to take a break from performing as record of tides. nevertheless kupsch and piayda confirmed to have plans for common live show projects in the future.

on saturday, may 31, 2025, record of tides will perform an a/v live at eunoia space in mülheim an der ruhr, as curated by the independent venue itself. piayda has already teased a shorter glitch hop set after the live performance. doors will open at 7 pm, there will be time for chats and hang-outs. as this will be the last date of the may 2025 live dates there are no further live dates scheduled recently.
(record of tides will not perform at electric café festival on june 14 due schedule difficulties.)

the head pictures shares a snapshot of the glitch hop hdj set performance in front of the visuals, the picture above shows piayda performing at 35blumen last friday. as record of tides opened the festival the light and stage situation did not allow proper video projection, so the visual part of the performance was cancelled (even if it was requested and announced). the upcoming show at eunoia space will definitely feature exclusive visuals.

the album was once again beautifully mastered by michael schreiber who also recorded and delivered material recorded with huff and van aachen.

it is a great pleasure to announce the upcoming record of tides live ad hdj sets for may 2025 in germany. after only performing once in 2024 at makroscope for electric café ruhr (and an improvised hdj set at bkg glockenspitz) sven piayda returns with three dates promising different sets for each venue. the mini tour will start with a glitch hop hdj set at makroscope in mülheim, the opening av live set of endlos elektrosounds at 35blumen in krefeld and end with an av live set at eunoia in mülheim.

the idea to expand the range of disciplines had been tossed around for about six months now, sven piayda must have mentioned it already back in the day in the journal and fb site, now the studio finally presents works in a new discipline. piayda has started to exhibit photographs in 2001, seriously started doing video pieces in 2009 and added sound works in 2013 (apart from his music catalogue which is tracing back to 1997). after longer consideration and working on the pieces, the studio is now also offering multiples. up to now, piayda has added two new multiples to his portfolio:

‘eternal silence’ is a wooden box in room corner, long side matching long wall, holding an endless tape cartridge placed in same corner, long side with naked tape facing long side of box. the size and proportions of the wooden box, as well as the position of the cassette, are reminiscent of a cassette radio. the audio cassette contains a blank endless magnetic tape. even if a technical device were available to play the recording, the result would be endless silence.


‘coleridge (dictation machine)’ is a dictation machine placed in a corner of windowsill playing the ‘coleridge’ sound piece (on demand), in which a computer voice recites samuel taylor coleridge`s essay on the art as imitation of nature. like his photographs, video and sound installations these assemblages reflect their own mediality, possibilities and limitations.

update 2025-03-22: we are happy to announce another release featuring sven piayda. electronic artists jörg jankowitsch a.k.a. wellengärtner released his new album ‘movements’ on march 21, 2025. the album lists a track called ‘move it’ featuring sven piayda on guitar. according to the studio report, this was a quite quick collaboration. when jankowitsch requested piayda for a feature about a week ago, they started discussing time slots and technical options to do it. before bringing the plans to an end, michael schreiber and piayda recorded the guitar tracks in schreiber´s studio during a session which was scheduled long before and sent the guitar tracks back to jankowitsch. (they have also been working on a follow-up for primal scapes´’macrocosm’ and on record of tides´’collected riffing works 3’.) therefore you will also find primal scapes a.k.a. michael schreiber credited for additional production.

we are extremely pleased to announce the release of ‘consent’, the third album of architects of utter destruction on february 28, 2025. zany music already put out the singles ‘ventriloquist’ and ‘fools’ as single edits and released the promotional ‘ventriloquist’ video via youtube. the album is available in different digital formats and features eight songs among album versions of the singles. it was written mainly back in summer 2023 and spring 2024 and was recorded in summer 2024.

the new songs feature architects of utter destruction formed with chris huff (AESTATE, penrose delta, primal scapes) on bass and jan van aachen (primal scapes) on drums. michael schreiber (primal scapes, all-notes-off) contributes additional synth and programming for the song ‘riposte’. schreiber has become and on/off-member since producing the band´s cover version of the erasure classic ‘always’ and has been involved in the band´s future productions as well. additional drums by scott rockenfield and josh freese have also been added.

the band´s sound has become even more variable by merging different genres into the context of rock music. the band is also working on material for a fourth album, programming has been done, lyrics are believed to be completed. the next album is supposed to have influences by genres which have not been noticeable before.

above you see the cover designs for the singles ‘ventriloquist’ and ‘fools’ as featured on the ‘singles’ compilation. ‘fools’ also features a video based upon stock footage adding a further meaning to the song´s lyrics. the cover photos as well as the albums cover photo are based upon tableaus of the photographic portfolio of sven piayda. the photographs – as well as the microsite background videos – have been shot in belgium during a stay in summer 2015.

a recent band picture (unfortunately just edited together) with the group´s recent line-up: chris huff and sven piayda with michael schreiber who takes the part for jan van aachen who decided to skip the shooting. all of them are recently in production for album #4. next to scott rockenfield two further drummers are supposed to perform on the album.


update 2025-02-24: architects of utter destruction did some few live performances in winter 2025 in moers and mülheim an der ruhr. even if there would have been opportunities to play within the upcoming weeks the group will concentrate (and celebrate) the recent album release. AOUD will hopefully return to stage in the middle of march and prepare new recording sessions for summer.

the zany music site got a tiny structural re-edit following our favourite programmer´s advice. originally drafted as a one-page, the catalogue and feature expanded enormously making it difficult for browsers to handle the full load. now we have split the full catalogue, zany load, download links and download on demand from the features; news ticker, videos, zany music artists and video directors. we hope you enjoy! plus: sven piayda´s original motion picture soundtrack for christopher terhart´s ‘kaivalya’ is back in the features as it is a great album apart from the film exploring classical and electric compositional attempts. piayda is recently working on an album escorting this year´s live dates and comes back to unreleased material produced during the ‘kaivalya’ sessions.






after announcing a record of tides audio-visual live performance for may 31 at eunoia space a few weeks ago, we are happy to announce another date for may 2025. krefeld off space 35blumen will host their annual endlos elektrosounds festival spreading over may 23, 24 and 25. record of tides will play an audio only live performance on may 23. stage time and the full line-up of performing artists is supposed to be announced soon.
further dates for live or hdj sets in may 2025 are supposed to be confirmed and announced soon as well.

sven piayda already announced to work on an album being ‘post-genre’ and abstract while bringing back older (mashed up) tracks, doing a.i.-generated sounds and stuff suitable for a live context. long-term collaborator michael schreiber is supposed to play a pivotal role in this production which is believed to move away from post hip-hop approach mixing styles from previous releases with newly discovered styles. the album is supposed to be artistically the most ambitioned and unique production. we hope to have the new sound like during upcoming live dates in spring and summer. please set your schedules and get your tickets.

the ruhr prize for art and science was created at the suggestion of the mülheim artists, who drew attention to the fact that an astonishing breadth and diversity of artistic creation can be found in mülheim an der ruhr and that a comparatively large number of good and widely recognized artists work here have found home. the ruhr gallery in mülheim is still showing the exhibition ‘the ruhrpreis - an interim balance after over 60 years’ displaying numerous works by visual artists awarded over the years.

as sven piayda received the award in 2016 he is part of the exhibition. the 2024 series ‘detail’ is on display as it is also part of the gallery´s collection. ‘detail’ is based upon an extremely large rendering exploring the detail of light and shadow playing upon a golden surface quoting dutch master rembrandt van rijn. additionally the show features the series ‘golden cow (end of an era)’ from 2018 as it was bought by a private collector and is supposed to be shown in a public the photographic material was taken in 2018 in england, the (sliced) golden cow(s) can be read as a comment on the hype of ‘young british artists’ like damien hirst and the bible´s golden calf.

please note: after being on display for about three months the show will end on sunday, march 2, 2025.

even if there is no further show to be announced for 2025 yet, the studio will start to work on a new show concept for museums dealing with sound and sculpture in march 2025. we hope to get the material purchases, pieces produced and installed and placed into an art show.
there is going to be a paper soon.

apart from this piayda announced in the journal (2025-01-21 an exclusive and sacred inner world | entry by sven) to have been working on a show which was cancelled about a week in advance as the venue did not communicate the show. there is no more information available on this issue.
