we are delighted to finally announce record of tides to play live at electric café festival at makroscope on june 15, 2024. for this appearance video artist robin moedder will join piayda on stage to sync visuals to the new live set. moedder and piayda have been working on this collaboration for about two years, moedder already directed the video for ‘camp finals’.

record of tides performed live for the last time at szeniale in gelsenkirchen in august 2022. all live appearances afterwards had been cancelled caused by different reasons. now piayda returns live to the electric café festival after playing his last show for the festival at ‘beats im bunker’ at medienbunker marxloh in duisburg in 2020. before, record of tides already appeared at electric café ruhr² open air in essen werden and debuted at electric café in eisenheim back in 2018.

moedder and piayda will play a short set of 30 minutes among further electronic artists. even if announced diffferently before, robin moedder x record of tides will not return in october for a larger show.

we are surprised and happy to announce that record of tides returns for a 2024 glitch hop hdj set on may 17 at café mundgerecht in essen. piayda already did two glitch hop hdj sets in 2023 at hier ist nicht da and rosi in gelsenkirchen and returns with an updated list of tracks to be played. further dates are recently not scheduled. nevertheless, record of tides is supposed to return live with visual support in 2024 or 2025. the next electric café festival at makroscope is scheduled for june 15, this might be a possible live date to keep an eye on. as already announced in sven piayda´s blog, there is new music coming.

update 2024-05-10: as there has been no promotion or communication concerning technical issues of the glitch hop set as scheduled for may 17, we have decided to cancel the event. future events are supposed to be announced soon.

on the day of release of record of tides ‘post internet’ album, february 24, sven piayda assembled at the electro jam #4 to play a two hour set featuring musicians as dean blues, walter eul, andreas hilburg, klaus kahmann, thomas machoczek and ioannis zedamanis. the live performance was streamed live on facebook. on march 24, on the day of the glitch hop hdj set at HIND and the AESTATE reissues #2 release day, zany music put out a live bootleg of the live performance distributed via archive.org.

on friday, december 3, 2021 at 8 pm michael schreiber and sven piayda will add the next chapter to their collaborative euclid series. ‘vivid euclids’ will be a live performance streamed via youtube from primals studios. the set will feature live versions of tracks from the euclid series as well as older and unreleased tracks.

on january 1, 2021 primal scapes and record of tides released their collaborative album ‘revenant euclids’ without any announcement in advance via zany music and distributed via bandcamp. the album features ten tracks mostly based upon randomized euclidian pattern. the collaborative album was produced in november and december 2020. following their highly appreciated collaborative album, primal scapes x record of tides released the appendix ep ‘sweven euclids’ on march 1, 2021 using similar production methods without creating any beats within their ambient pieces. the collaborative ep was produced in january and february 2021.

michael schreiber explains the approach and working process:
to perform electronic music live always has a limiting factor - which is only two hands and two feet per musician. due to that these performances sometimes feel lame (although they sound nice) when there is too many playback material.
the approach we choose for the next live stream is different from that and could be called it-based. think of an audio-workstation as a giant modular system with tons of modules like clocks, logical units. these modules are arranged into independent sequencers and can be compared to little programs running and doing music. instead of triggering keys or buttons which directly trigger a sound we will perform ‘them’ and change the ‘programs’ doing that for us. this might be a little abstract way of making music - as there is no creativity inside the machine - and pressing a key or button to trigger a certain note or sound in that moment is different from saying the program that the chance for that event to happen increases. nevertheless it is fun - an interesting and highly efficient way of making music.

following a statement by the szeniale team we do not expect the festival to take place as scheduled. record of tides is not going to play on june 19, 2021. alternate dates or concepts have not been communicated so we do not expect sven piayda to play live in 2021. record of tides was supposed to be supported by contemporary dancer josie kalies as well as singer 1satzleiter.

updade 2021-05-22: the szeniale festival will be postponed to 2022 with no scheduled exhibitions or live events for 2021. we will have to check possible dates for 2022 while we hope for record of tides to perform. also we have to see if the collaborations with announced guest artists will be possible as planned for 2021.
