time flies, another year is over. as in every year we like to have a look at the past releases an the expected ones in the future, this is what we are going to do this year also, but we will also have a look at the live appearances and studio work.

past:

zany music released sven´s fivth album pentagroove, which gaind great feedback after a time of disorientaion, as usually. the album was extended by pentagroove collaborator marcel groth a.k.a menlanchon, who created a fantastic remix for the song discover.
AESTATE, the audiovisual electronica assault, went through strange situations this year, but develloped great. the group released their second album superflat which gained good critics all the way and turned out to be commercially successful.
sven´s party joke of djing turned into a useful release: dj general piayda feb23 set is still in the /CAMP and is your party proof insurance! get access!
last but not least, some visual work. sven did a solo show featuring his photographic artworks at the anyway, escorted by an outstanding catalogue.
REFERENCE was a great art event, the catalogue is still on for download, featuring works in printable quality and a big interview by michaela best!

allthough sven pretends to be bored of live concerts, 2008 has been the year of many live appearances:
AESTATE did many dates in 2008, remember the new live sound pesented at the FZW, RUHR IN LOVE and AUDIODIGITALE (even croned by visuals).
sven also collaborated with factor-4 combining techno and rock. allthough more collaborations had been scheduled, this collaboration seems to be over.

started as a fun collaboration of just meet in studio together, sebastian flamma and sven piayda decided on becoming a real band after the second studio session. being extremely productive in a very short time, THE FLAMMA PIAYDA COMPLEX demonstrates the future eighties and triggers high appreciations, linking fans of different scenes.
recently, there is only a myspace site on, but the guys are working on a debut album.

present:
you know, between the years nothing special is going on...but. as you know, sven has been working on a new album last summer, he is recently in studio doing edits and post-producing the album.
yes, the is a title, yes, there is a single, well, lets talk about the future...

future:
as it could have been found on other websites, some rumours had been around but here is the whole truth:
zany music is releasing the firt DVD in it´s 10 year history. the piece is called

live at audiodigitale 2008
next to the DVD the soundtrack will also be out as mp3 download via /CAMP.
the release is scheduled for february 20th, 2008, but you can already preorder it. the DVD comes with a special transparent artwork and is a limited edition release, so get yours on time!


and the new sven album, of course. this time, everything remains a big secret, only a few pics from studio, only limited info. according to sven it is going to be a mixture of post-rock, grunge, house and hippie-singalongs...whatever this my mean. known collaborator for sven album #6: thorsten gumball (wion, ex-dissident(en) club, aestate-co-producer, now sven band member...)
first sounds are expected for april 2009, probably eralier in the /CAMP.

allthough AESTATE do not define themselves as a classical techno or electronica act and therefore avoid remixing, they did it again. accidently the guys received the debut ep by squinancywort, an electronica act from manchester, unided kingdom. the debut album from squinancywort is called "moths" and features the striking track "cousin german".
AESTATE agreed to remix the track, and it was finished after some hours. the result is highly apprechiated by squinancywort and huff/piayda.
the track is expected to be featured on squinancywort´s myspace profile.

wow, this time it is really diferrent and a little scary.
THE FLAMMA PIAYDA COMPLEX shows up to be extremely creative and productive. after coming up with dark pop pearls like "within the wings of misery" and "a day at the sea" they continue dark but very different with "some tenderness" and the outstanding future eighties piece "sanctuary" (hot chip beats, brian may harmonies, sisters of mercy singing and u2 bass lines, so who could ask for anything more???).

sebastian flamma, ex-singer of pop/dark-metal band destination: nowhere, and crossover enfant terrible sven piayda show up with outbut of their commom project Flamma | Piayda.
as we reported on august 1st, the guys met in studio to play around with certain ideas and re-arranged songs. their sound is a strange mixture of 80ies metal, pop and electronics.
there have been a lot of rumours in the pipeline so far, anyway, the guys come up with one and a half songs on myspace now, forever mine and an adapted version of sven´s a day at the sea (turning into something compleately different...)

AESTATE performed a fantastic live st at the audiodigitale in dortmund last friday. for the first time the group played a quite long set surrounded by multiple screen visuals. some pictures can be seen here on svennet some are available via the official aestate site now.

the festival was supposed to be a great success, according to the HMKV website:
New festival "Audiodigitale" highly successful!
(Oct 20, 2008) The Audiodigitale festival which took place on Friday and Saturday night (20:00 - 01:00) in the PHOENIX Halle Dortmund was a great success: In total, 800 visitors came to listen to the concerts and to check out the exhibition "Anna Kournikova".

fortunately the whole performance has been filmed, the result is an exiting uncut documentary of ther audivisual live performance. recently AESTATE are thniking about a live dvd documenting the audiodigitale gig, coming up with live footage snippets of previous performances and of course an audivisual version of their multiple screening for your living room.
this dvd is supposed to be the first dvd production on zany music, so this will be a chellange with an result to to be expected before summer 2009.

as in every year, we wonder how fast september 25th comes up every time, the release date of sven piayda´s debut album "portrait", as released by roberg-records/zany music in 1999. we like to celebrate this date because this album is not only the start for (so far) four follow up albums (all still using the same cover and title concept) it was also the start for different other bands and projects, even aestate to name the last one.

looking back, portrait appears quite shy and tender, very melancholy and band sound based, exploring the basics for later elctronic/dance, industrial and metal sounds...
portrait is still available and hasn´t lost edge over the years.

whenever there is an anniversary like this we think about a best of record or something. next year portrait will turn ten years old, so something special should happen. our idea is not to come up with a best of, there are ideas of probably a digital best of release with remixes of older songs, holding the possibiltiy to expand...
thes are just ideas, still one year to go...

some other happy art news:
back in 2001 sven piayda had two art shows, sichtwerk02 and the tiny solo show at the university of essen. for the solo show, sven came up with different work groups as cadaver, the devine master plan, indices and circle photograms.
while cadaver can still be seen on the photography site, other works vanished and the circle photograms were compleatly lost.
actually these lost works appeared again and are believed to be shown within the next months again.
some rumour trivia: the ArtCamp is believed to do a circle photgram exhibition in the basement...
we´ll see.

what you need to know about the circle photograms:
the CP is a collection of seven works executed and exhibited in 2001. all photographic works show round objects of reversed colours (black and white). to understan, what is special about photograms in general, have a look at this wikipedia site!

there have been some rumours lately concerning sven working on another solo album. remember, sven´s last album was releasd in march, AESTATE´s superflat came out last month, and some of you are irritated concerniong more releases. let´s sort the facts:
above you see an exclusive pic taken in studio yesterday.
sebastian flamma (singer and mastermind of the pop metal band destination: nowhere) and sven piayda on the right. sven had been contributing guitars to the song "forever mine". still we do not know how and where the song will be available, but we will tell you here.

there have been some pics on the net howing sven working in studio. it is fact there are some new songs being recorded. there is no official title or release date so far, nothing to talk about now. the new sound is believed to be more noisy and dirty, somewhere between alice in chains, mgmt, gus gus and something mike patton would probably do...


above you see sven and wion´s thorsten gumball during a common gig in 2006. gumball is the only so far known guest musician on the new circle of songs.
we will tell you more as soon as we know!

after a long home stretch and a very long and advanced production period AESTATE come up with first sounds of the new album now. the track REPG features shredded rhythm structures without losing the groove. according to the band, the groove is decustructed but danceable at the same time. the video was dirceted and produced by AESTATE again, the production even started six months ago.

the new album will be entitled SUPERFLAT and will be released via zany music on 2008-07-07. although there had been different information in the past, there will be no special edition, no dvd featuring the promo videos or a bonus disc with live recordings. all these ideas are still in the orbit, but they are waiting for a more appropriate way in quality and necessity.

the artwork is again designed by the band but not revieled yet, it is expected to be different and outstanding. still there are ideas concerning the digital database called "AESTATEpatch" featuring more music, live recording, remixes and regular albums as download, but there is still not date scheduled for opening it. according to huff, "is it only a question of time and patience."

after one and a half years in studio and many rumours about the band and their next release there are some facts coming up:

special edition
there have been rumours spread about a special edition release featuring the videos. the band decided on not coming up with videos, because of the low quality in production. they will release everything online. the other idea of coming up with a live set in a bonus disc was also cancelled. but: the aestate will come up with a very beautiful artwork this time.
plus: the beats are still shedded but this time there is groove in it. we hope to come up with sounds and videos the next weeks, they are still working on new more complex videos.
these are the facts for now, more to come up within the next weeks.

factor-4´s and melanchon´s marcel groth has been working on a remix of the song "discover", which is now available as free download va svennet! groth also helped to produce the original track in 2007, it can be found on sven´s last album pentagroove as well as in the CAMP.
the melanchon remix will be featured in the svennet player and will be available for free download and it will be featuired on melanchon´s myspace page, you can go there by clicking below:

next to sven piayda´s reference also other exhibitiones are opening these days, even bigger ones, can you believe this? yesterday atelier van lieshoudt´s slave city opened at museum folkwang. part of the exhibition is a rectum shaped bar (the "BarRectum") in front of the museum.
van lieshout´s work deals with forms of society, energy and ecology, all as a wild, serious and funny mix of architecture, design and art. sven also explained the principles of "slave city" in a design class this morning. AVL founder joep van lieshout joined the opening yesterday, as well as sven, who declared to return for the "ArschBar" as it is called in german.

finally, sven piayda´s solo exhibition art show reference opened at april 12th and will be available until june 14th. there was no opening ceremony, but sven was expected to be present at the anyway in the evening . next to him michaela best, co-producer of the show and the catalogue, was expected to attend the opening night.

after this long pause we are happy to be back with new news on svennet. the last weeks were not the best ones, sven was ill and there were also other things whick had slow down everything. but, and here we go back to some happy news, sven piayda´s solo art show reference will open next week at anyway.
we expect the largest exhibitions so far. next to the show there will be a small catalogue featuring selected works plus an interview, exhibition list and biography.
originally it was planned to produce a larger catalogue one year ago, but it turned out that the production would have been muh to expensive, so the final result would have been much to expensive.

therefor the current catalogue was co-produced by michaela best /libella-proof.de, thank you, and will be available as print version as well as free download version via svenpiayda.com/photography.

the release party will be launced in essen, germany,

sven´s new and fifth album pentagroove is scheduled for march 17th, 2008. there is no artwork or tracklist to show at the moment (there are some problems in producing the sleeves). one month left to go, still a lot remains hidden.
fortunately, there are new sounds for you in the CAMP! after actually, the first single from pentagroove, gained great response, you can now listen to discover.
this song features claudia relota (current band: delaphone) on vocals. she has also been in studio with sven before - back in 2006 she added backing vocals on euphoria´s "i´ve been twelve forever".
the image above shows claudia (with a bad cold and tea) next to sven in the monitor room, listening to the new stuff.
ms relota isn´t the only feature for discover: marcel groth, mastermind of melanchon and member of factor-4, added additional programming. groth and piayda collaborated live before on juciy beats 2007, see pic below:

yeah, here is another live snippet, distributed by melanchon. it shows targia singing the songs "drehdruck" and "vox populi". more to know: "vox populi" is originally a song by targia´s band tuareg. "drehdruck" war originally an instrumental dance track by factor-4. anyway, the collective turned into a dance-rock-thing.
the video features both songs (and targia´s compleate on stage performance) as full lenght feature. the live videos of factor-4 vs general piayda will be added to the visuals section soon.

last thursday factor-4 vs general piayda returned to stage to celebrate their rock-electronic-cross-over sound once again. their set was longer and slightly differing from the juicy beats gig. once again targia supported the band with vocals.
f-4 vs gp gained fantasic feedback, the group is planning new stikes!

once again, house and techno collective factor-4 and sven a.k.a. general piayda will collide live, once again supported by tuareg lead singer targia. this band setup debuted live for jucy beats 2007 (see 2007 news and journal) and succeeded via combining electronic beats, rock guitar riffing and female vocals. they announced to play tracks and songs from the juicy beats gig but also new material and alternative live versions. and yes, once again sven is crossing over between electronica and rock, this time live.

AESTATE have performed two outstanding live sets this year so far. their live gig at the fzw in dortmund, germany has been well documented. you can find two new live videos in the visuals section.

electric unity has also released a small promo sampler disc. the sampler features the track "the leaves (live)" as recorded live in düsseldorf, germany. "the leaves" is expected to be featured on AESTATE´s next album, title and release date still to be annouced.
